Anonymous 2016 was an evening on privacy, anonimity and identity online, hosted by my classmates and me under the guidance of Juha van 't Zelfde.
We invited Belgian media artist Dries Depoorter and Evelyn Austin from Bits of Freedom to do a small talk. Evelyn first explained the current state of digital surveillance, Dries presented his work that involves the privacy of himself and others.
It all took place in our fictional Privacy4You Store with a Privacy Bar where employees would learn visitiors how to privatize their phones. Visitors could get a pocket sized dictionary containing frequently used terms on the theme of the event, and a pair of Decryption Glasses which they needed to see our encrypted video installation that was shown during the evening.
While organising this event, I kept myself busy with the >> website << which is our digital poster with a link to our >> Facebook event <<. I made us some Privacy4You Store workwear and my duty was to fix the technical issues with the Raspberry Pi's to make sure our video installation could run during the event. Last but not least, I also provided some visual input for this video installation.
One week before the event, our Privacy4You Store opened it's doors as a promotional exhibition and installation and to show people part of our process.
This project is in collaboration with Sjef van Beers, Michelle van Ool, Juul Koene and Channin Scholten.
Pictures of the event are taken by Oscar van Leest and Yuri Keukens.
